Having to stay in Westport to help with a family member's estate, I found this place to be a wonderful "home away from home" in the best sense. Since I work remotely, I was able to do this at Gerard's wonderful studio apartment during the day and be right around the corner from family to meet in the evenings. Located in a renovated historic mill, our top floor studio with private entrance had the latest technology, WIFI, Alexa and Sonos. Below the studio is a completely outfitted membership remote work space (to which we had access if we needed it) with offices, nooks, collab open spaces and private Zoom screen connectivity room. The studio itself was impeccably clean and beautifully decorated with originality and whimsy. Lots of windows to allow sunlight and modern shades to assure privacy. Attention has been placed on comfort with a great bed and soft-as-clouds bed linens. Plenty of seating and "walking around room" the place has a comfy couch (I believe this is also a sleeper), three chests of drawers, a well-placed desk, dining room set by the kitchenette(small stove, sink and refrigerator appointed) with coffee maker and every dish, glassware and utensils you will need. There were plenty of supplies (paper towels, sponges, dish soap) to last for the entire week we were there. Full screen TV with streaming options for unwinding. The bathroom is appropriate for the space, great water pressure and hot water. Great parking, very secure entrance to the apartment, all effortlessly provided by a caring host. Self check-in was a snap but Gerard was only a text away to answer anything and to ensure the stay was going well. This will become our regular Westport go-to. The mill is located on a local main road, with gorgeous views of the river behind the building, it is walking accessible to restaurants and shops. The beaches are nearby too, so this would make an excellent vacation stay. A gem of a place.

This was our third, and not final visit to Great Gull. We come to CT to visit our granddaughter, and Great Gull is a good space to spread out and do activities if the weather is bad, accommodates a sleepover with a fold out sofa for granddaughter, and is close to beautiful outdoor CT hiking and beach walking. The host is helpful and responsive, and the accommodation is as listed.

Beautiful and cozy space. Very clean and the bed was also quite comfy. Location was very convenient as well, we didn't have a car but the location is walkable to essentials and an easy uber ride to surrounding areas. The host was kind and communicative. Highly recommend!

Fantastic studio in Westport. A gem, really. It is spacious and tastefully furnished and gets lots of natural light. It is also conveniently located, with a supermarket across the street. We worked remotely there for a week, and all went smoothly. Plus, Gerard was an exemplary host.

I have nothing but good things to say about Great Gull's location in Westport. My wife and I went for a quick anniversary trip and saw how quaint and vibrant the studio looked. So, we booked and we went and, upon checking in, decided for our next trip we'd be going to another Great Gull AirBnb some time in the close future. During our check-in, we were greeted by Gerard, our host, who welcomed us to the studio. Gerard is an amazing host and made sure we felt comfortable in the area, in our stay, and with the town. We even got to know about his team and family and he got a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. He also made sure to let us know that he was available for us at any time, should we need anything. Honestly, I wish every AirBnb was hosted by Gerard. The studio was super clean. Typically, when my wife and I head to AirBnbs, we'll bring in-house slippers but we didn't feel like we needed that here. There was also no dust on any of the appliances--drawers, kitchenware, shelves--none at all. The bathroom was also immaculate (it's a bit tiny but was very nice). The bed was super cozy and so soft. We even looked up where they found their throws/pillows, LOL. Also, the ceiling lights were awesome--never needed to turn on any lights during the morning to evening. The studio comes with an access card to the B@Works co-working place below the studio. My wife and I were working from home on Friday and checked out the workplace. It was awesome--if you're here for a long stay and you're teleworking, this would be the place for you. I'm forgetting like a thousand things but not a single bad thing to say about this place. Super clean, super welcoming, in a very convenient area. If you're worried about noise on Post Rd, you can't hear a thing from inside the studio. I'd only wish that my stay was longer. Thanks Gerard and the Great Gull team! We'll definitely be back.

This was such a great stay. So close to everything. I only stayed for a night before catching a ferry for a wedding, but this would be the ideal spot for a getaway in Westport.

Gerard was such a fantastic host. I booked this property to stay at during my wedding weekend and it was PERFECT! The place is clean and beautiful inside. The host was available if we needed anything but the space was perfect that we didn’t even need anything! The also left us a very nice card and a bottle of Prosecco upon check in as a cute little wedding surprise. I hope to book one of Gerard’s property’s again soon!!

The Studio apt was lovely and right off the main road. We were able to get between Norwalk, Westport, and Fairfield easily and quickly. We brought our dog and there was a convenient space in the back for quick walks. We were 15 min away from multiple hiking grounds for the dog to take longer walks. There's also a Petco right across the street. Beyond the hiking, there are lovely eateries galore within 15 minutes. The aquarium is about 20 minutes away and there are multiple beaches within 15 minutes. Gerard and Great Gull were super communicative and helpful. 10/10, would definitely stay here again.

This venue is just as described—a delightful, charming, Large Studio, brightly lit, thoughtfully designed, and unique, 2nd floor of Old Mill, set on a Stream flowing through a beautiful tidal marsh. In addition you have Access to the Offices on the lower floor, which are designed for rental by local professionals, with cafe style tables for coffee with views. The Host, Gerard, is both a sophisticate, who can assist you with local attractions, and thoughtful regarding accommodating your needs.

There couldn't possibly be a better host than Gerard. He bends over backwards to make sure his guests are comfortable and have everything they need. The space is just as pictured and I actually felt like it was bigger than appeared in the images. I was in the area on vacation and I looked forward to going "home" at night to my own space. I love to walk and I am a photographer, so I was thrilled to find out that I could walk down to the beach in less than 30 minutes. There are also several places to eat within walking distance. The bed is comfortable and I talked to Alexa just like I do at home. If you decide to stay here - do yourself a favor and try to meet with Gerard and learn about the history about the old mill.

This place was fantastic! It was so close to everything i needed. It was also walkable to the train station for a ride into the city! The access to the additional space was just a bonus.

The apartment was really beautiful and spacious and clean! We had a great stay here. My only note is that anyone who’s looking for a quiet place in nature — as I had thought this place might be based on the images — should be aware that the apartment is situated on a busy main road directly across the street from a big shopping plaza with a Michael’s, Panera Bread etc… Truly a great space inside though and Gerard was very friendly + accommodating !

This was every girls dream getaway. The design and architecture in the apartment was like out of French Quarters. The host was attentive and wonderful to connect with. He made it feel like home. We were in Westport to see friends for a couple of days. The Studio was in a perfect location. Additionally, the location was good for food shopping and close to downtown Westport. Everything in the studio was as described. It was very clean. Comfortable bed. Clean linens. Nice towels. Music on Sonos. The only tiny issue we had was that we couldn't easily figure out the TV. But we finally did. Included was Netflix and some other premium channels. If in Westport, we would certainly stay there again.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The weather was terrible, so we couldn’t do much outside, but that was a good opportunity to feel at home and take advantage of the amenities, and a well equipped kitchen. We absolutely loved the skylights, plenty of light, despite the gloomy weather. Very clean, neat , spacious, just be careful if you are too tall, you may hit the lower ceiling in some areas and the bathroom. It is very cozy, love the decorations and the music playing upon our arrival. That definitely warm up our welcome and cheer us up, after a long drive. We definitely recommend this place. We love it!

This loft style studio has so much charm and makes you feel right at home. Gerard is a wonderful host and communicated quickly and regularly. I will certainly stay again! The only thing to be aware of is it's on a busy road and there are lot of beautiful overhead skylights, so it can be a tad noisy at night and bright in the morning. Not a complaint, just something to be aware of!

A great place to stay in Westport—the apartment is exactly as pictured and had all the conveniences and amenities you would want for your stay. There’s a grocery store across the street and a few places to eat within walking distance but I will rent a car next time since the road is heavily trafficked and there are no sidewalks in certain areas. One note for guests, the street noise is noticeable from inside so you may want to bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Overall though a great place.

We had such a lovely stay at the Mill! The interior was so beautiful and we felt at home immediately. It was about a ten minute ride to downtown Westport and had lots of stores surrounding the area. Gerard was so helpful and kind. We will be back!

Situated on the second floor of what was an old mill, newly renovated, a few anomalies naturally exist. The oddly angled room and creaky floors are part of the original, historic structure and didn't bother us at all. The shower stall is very narrow and might be difficult for some larger people. Lots of windows with shades allow as much natural light in as you like. Access to the work space below with a gorgeous view of Sasco Creek was a bonus, as was super fast wifi. Gerrard is very friendly, accessible, and accommodating. My wife and I would be happy to return.

We had such a nice time celebrating our 5 year anniversary here. The location was perfect. Close to lots of restaurants and shopping and a quick drive away from New Haven. The property itself was so cute and warm feeling, with an eclectic style and vintage floor boards. We absolutely did not want to leave.

I came for a self imposed writing retreat and it was a wonderful stay. Conveniently located for easy trips to the grocery store (Stop and Shop very close and Trader Joe’s also not far) and lots of places for me to try out for a nearby workout. I mostly worked in the coworking space below which I had 24/7 access to and was incredibly quiet and peaceful especially on the weekend- lucky me. It had serene views of the water/dam right beside the mill. The apartment itself was impeccably clean and equipped to cook all of my meals. As another reviewer noted, there is noise from the busy road in front of the mill, but it wasn’t a bother to me, especially since I mainly worked downstairs away from the road. Gerard was incredibly hospitable and warm, going out of his way to make my stay comfortable. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to all.

This Studio apartment was a good match for my needs, a good value in a central location based on my work week in CT. The Studio was clean, very roomy and generally comfortable for relaxing after a long work day. Check-in/out Instructions were very clear. The noise machines were a very welcome addition and really reduced the traffic sounds. The host was very responsive when a few issues arose and were handled right away. The shower is extremely small, so if that's a concern for you this might not work. For context I'm 5'3" 110lb. Also, if you need darkness to sleep, there are 3 or 4 windows that face the street and have street lights on all night. And a red lit-up exit sign on the ceiling. Otherwise, a nice, clean place in a central location.

The place is very cozy, cute, and rustic. I loved the decor and the beautiful wood floors. At night, a lot of light comes in through the windows without any covers and the windows with sheer curtains/blinds. There is a bright red exit sign that has to stay on due to safety rules. If you need darkness to sleep, bring eye covers. The place is noisy as it is located right on the road and cars drive by often. If you are sensitive to noise when sleeping, bring earplugs. I didn't like how small the shower was because I could never step out of the stream to lather, and my body was always touching the shower curtain. The hot water runs out after 10 minutes. I'm 5' 9" and hit my head a few times on the ceiling around the kitchen and dining area. The place had trouble with the AC and the owner came over to try and fix it. HVAC people came two or three times as well. The owner bought me fans and reimbursed me for some nights which was nice. Despite the small problems, I do recommend this place!

We had a great two week stay at Great Gull. It's perfectly located to explore the various beaches, parks and surrounding neighborhoods. It's located minutes from Metro-North and brilliantly offers access to an amazing work space for those that are telecommuting. There's also plenty to do in the surrounding area.
