The Schoolhouse was fantastic. The location couldn’t be better. We stayed for four nights and didn’t need the car once. Everything is within walking distance. The other reviews were correct about the ceiling height, but we had no problems. They were also correct about all of the positives. We had a great time during our stay at the Schoolhouse!

This historic schoolhouse is in a great location. After a long day of sightseeing, you could just park the car and walk to several great restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay in Mystic,

Excellent location! Cozy place for two.

Absolutely amazing location. Plenty of parking too! Less than 100 steps from the main street. I can see the Mystic Bridge from the yard. Spent a decent amount of time outside, just watching the action happen. Was able to walk to everything. Definitely recommend. Pet friendly too! Host was extremely responsive to ensure a fantastic stay.

We loved this place! The proximity to town was absolutely perfect, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location. We were less than a two minute walk from the shops and restaurants on the main blocks. The view of the water was gorgeous, and the outdoor seating was a great place for morning coffee and afternoon snacks. Inside the home everything was spotless and clean. We loved the unique original floors and the loft bedroom. As mentioned in the listing, there are low ceilings in the upstairs loft where the bathroom is located. The shower head is very low and difficult to use. Otherwise, we had an amazing stay and we would love to come back!

The house is a two minute walk to Main Street with lots of restaurants and shops, but it’s amazingly quiet and peaceful. And the view of the Mystic River is unbeatable.

We had an amazing time at this property. We come out to Mystic yearly and if possible is now our go to location for our stay. it was comfortable, clean and peaceful. There were several sitting areas with grill access. Kayaks for the river. I would highly recommend.

This is a CANT MISS STAY! All possible comforts of home were available. Thoughtful appointments regarding decor. Cozy extras.. super clean and refreshing. A fully stocked kitchen was fantastic. The outdoor patio and extras like bikes kayaks and such make this stay irresistible.. if you like charm, you have it here!! Great host !

Absolutely loved this cottage! It is walking distance from the drawbridge and many restaurants. Gerard was very responsive and checked in to make sure everything went well for us. The cottage itself is so cute and was very clean. We had a fabulous time here!

We stayed at the Schoolhouse for our Honeymoon. What an amazing experience. The Airbnb was stellar; cozy, cute, comfortable, right next to the main part of Mystic (walking distance), across the street from the river (amazing views!), and containing everything one would need (we even were gifted toothbrushes by the host which was such a sweet surprise as we had forgot ours). The town is great too, beautiful views of the river and bridge, lots of amazing restaurants and shops, and the friendliest people. What an amazing experience, one of the books. It's a lovely place, and Gerard is very helpful and responsive. Only caution: if you are in a group of more than 2, be aware that the only bathroom is in the back of the upstairs bedroom. I was traveling alone so it was not an issue for me. Thanks Gerard!

This property is everything and more! Walkable to so many great spots. Super clean space, very charming! We loved our stay at the School House. Gerard was super sweet and easily reachable! Definitely recommend!

Location is superb and cannot be beat - right off the main drag and in walking distance to all bakeries, shops, restaurants, etc., with a great view of the water from the window. House pictures were accurate and the size and set up was just right for staying a few days in Mystic with my husband and toddler.

Ok people, if you are a couple or family of three staying in Mystic, this is the place to stay, look no further! It is absolutely perfectly appointed and comfy, you can park your car and walk everywhere. My eight year old said after two days he couldn’t remember what our house looked like, the rental was so homey it felt like we had always lived there. I was also grateful to be able to bring my dog, who is 12 years old and has a heart condition. I don’t feel comfortable boarding him so my travel decisions always have him in mind. Air B&B is the best!

We stayed for a week and had a wonderful time! The property has lovely water views and is located within walking distance to everything you could possibly want to do in town. Communication was great and we would happily stay again in the future. Highly recommend!

The School House is a gem! It is so cozy and welcoming. The house was very clean, the communication with the owners was easy and friendly. My husband and I sat outside on the patio enjoying the view for happy hour and again for morning coffee. We hated to leave.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. My husband called it, “balm for the soul.” Couldn’t be more convenient—we walked everywhere. Don’t miss the bookstore (amazing), the Drawbridge ice cream shop, Sift bakery, and all the cute little gift shops. The space is comfortable and charming. Bathroom is upstairs off the bedroom—an fyi for those with mobility concerns. We enjoyed the little outdoor area several times. Overall we loved it. Fantastic communication. Can’t wait to come back!

The location is absolutely perfect - walking distance from everything you'd want to see and eat in Mystic, and with quick water access. Paddling on the still water in the early morning with the house's kayaks was absolutely magical. Our welcoming hosts truly made sure everything was seamless and comfortable. 10/10 would definitely stay again!

You can't beat this dog-friendly location. It has an incredible view of the river, and it's quiet and peaceful despite being mere steps from downtown's restaurants and shops. We especially appreciated the AC and in-unit laundry. Great communication by the host.

We loved the place. Like the whole neighborhood - a beautiful blend of old and new. The "bones" are old (according to the plaque on the wall, it was built in stages from early to mid 1800s), but the finish is new and everything is in excellent condition. I particularly loved the floors in the living room and bedroom. They have got to be the original floors - 170-200 years old, but in excellent condition, nicely finished and don't squeak (my 22 year old floors squeak). The location simply cannot be beat. On the one hand - it's right on the river in a quite calm setting, but on the other hand, you're really IN downtown. Everything in Downtown Mystic is walking distance from the drawbridge, and the house is maybe 150 paces from the drawbridge. You can walk to 20 restaurants, some bars, breweries, shops... The place is not large, but was really comfortable and charming. The kitchen is well appointed, and there is even a very new looking washer/dryer set we didn't use. As some other reviewers noted, the staircase to the bedroom is steep and you do have to be mindful of the sloped ceilings upstairs. Didn't bother us but could pose a challenge for an older person or someone with mobility challenges. Do take a walk or a run or a bike ride (there are bikes to available to borrow) along the river heading North (left our of the house). It's beautiful.

Gerard, your host, goes above and beyond, finding and recommending new restaurants that are'nt even in his guidebook. We've stayed in his Frieda Kahlo apartment in Westport, so are repeat customers. He quickly responds to your questions and concerns. His Old School House in Mystic has many imaginative "school house" decorative touches and is in walking distance of restaurants, shops, the "Drawbridge Ice Cream store and Sift Bakery (forget your diet while you're here). Mystic is picture perfect with great views and amazing sunsets over the river and boats.

The location could not be more perfect. Although it was only a three minute walk to a very busy street with shops and restaurants, it was calm and quiet at the house with an amazing view of the Bascule bridge and the Mystic River.

Gerard was a wonderful host. He was very easy to communicate with and responded to our needs. The location was PERFECT! Only a few steps to the main street and everything you would want and need. Only a few minute drive to the aquarium and seaport. The house was clean and felt comfortable. The upstairs railing can be tricky with little dogs and babies but we managed with putting suitcases around the railing. I would definitely stay again or other locations.

The location was awesome. Everything was as described, even better. Check in and out was easy. Laundry in the house was a plus. Outside table is perfect for breakfast, just buy something from Sift or donut shop and enjoy!!

A nicely furnished and well-equipped historic house in a great location with views over the Mystic river and close to all amenities. The host was friendly and very responsive to the questions we had. A great plus for us were the bikes and the kayaks which added to our enjoyment of the area. There is ample parking. The upstairs bedroom has restricted height so might not suit someone who is very tall.

This house could not be better situated. Extremely close to the Mystic downtown strip without any of the noise. Additionally, the front lawn of the house looks over the water and there is plenty of parking as well. As mentioned by the host, taller people may want to look elsewhere due to the lower ceilings.

We loved staying at the Great Gull Schoolhouse. It was clean, well-equipped and so uniquely decorated. We appreciated the thoughtful details. The location near downtown and view of the river was lovely. We’d definitely stay again.

We loved the schoolhouse! The home was well stocked, comfortable, decorated nicely, and the location could not be better! The check in was seamless, parking was nice, and the communication with the owner was very helpful and friendly. I would only advise against this property if you’re tall and mind low ceilings as the second floor is sloped and shower would be difficult for anyone tall - my husband is 5’9 and he said if he were any taller he would’ve been uncomfortable.

We loved our stay at the Mystic School House! Great communication! Perfect location to close amazing shops and places to eat! The kitchen and dining area perfect for sharing a meal for 4 people! Very warm and cozy atmosphere! Fun to hangout in the morning and watch the sun come up over the Mystic River! We’d love to come back anytime!

Perfect location for walking around to shops and dining, and a short drive from the aquarium and Olde Mystick Village. The kitchen is well-stocked with all the service, appliances, and equipment needed to eat at home. Ceilings upstairs are sloped on the sides, but my 6'2" spouse did not mind for our two-night stay-- an occasional stoop outweighed by the excellent location and beautiful lodging. The apt is clean, modern, updated, but still charming.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about my time at the Schoolhouse and my interactions with the amazing folks at Great Gull. I stayed for several weeks by myself with my cats and felt completely safe and at home. The location is fantastic, just steps away from Main St and all of its attractions. At the same time, the house is private and feels cozy and so comfortable. I even left my stay at the Schoolhouse with a new family member, a friendly stray who needed a home. My little Christmas miracle ♥️ Thank you so much to Great Gull, Sheri Ann and Gerard for everything!!! I hope to be back again soon. Anyone would be incredibly lucky to stay here!

My husband and I traveled from Alabama to Mystic for a death in his family. We could not have picked a better place the stay! The schoolhouse is a piece of history in its self and it’s in a perfect location. Just steps away are great restaurants and quaint little shops. Fully stocked with all you need in the kitchen and bath and it even has a washer and dryer. It’s beautiful inside and out and if we ever return to Mystic we will absolutely be staying at the schoolhouse!

This stay is all about the location! Truly just steps away from the drawbridge, restaurants, and shops but set just far enough away that you don’t get any of the noise from the hustle and bustle. It was great to be able to park at the house and set out on foot. My kids loved being able to sit outside and watch the bridge go up and down. The house itself is full of charm, just watch your head upstairs! Great stay.

This was a perfect Airbnb for a quick weekend of exploring in Mystic. The house is a prime location for walking and close to many shops, restaurants and breweries. It is also a quick walk to the Mystic Amtrak station. The host is very responsive and communication was excellent. They were able to accommodate a later check-in time which we were very appreciative of. The house itself had all available amenities which was a nice added convenience. We had a great stay at the schoolhouse with our 7 year old twins. The location can't be beat - we could watch the boats going through the drawbridge across the water from the front yard, and walk a minute to all the shops and restaurants. The house was clean, cozy and had everything we needed for a weekend away. Gerard was extremely responsive and a gracious host. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful stay! The Schoolhouse was in the perfect location for a fun getaway in Mystic. Literally steps away from shops, restaurants, and the iconic drawbridge! Also, minutes away from the aquarium and seaport museum. We traveled with our 1 year old and 4 year old, the space was perfect! The house was super accommodating with a travel crib and high chair! We also felt like the house was super safe for our little one to crawl and explore, with the added touch of a baby gate for the staircase. Thank you for such a memorable weekend!

We LOVED the location of this home! Very close to several restaurants, I’ve cream shops, and the river. Kayaks and bikes were fun activities!! Amenities were thoughtful, except the shampoo/conditioner (2 in 1 =tangled and messy hair) and body wash were questionable. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. It was the perfect balance between the Main Street action and the scenic, peaceful neighborhood. Book it!!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay with our dog at the Great Gull Schoolhouse property. We were lucky enough to find this pet friendly home and couldn’t be more pleased. Communication with the host, Gerard, was spot on. The house was very clean. The mattress, pillows, and linens were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped with all your cooking needs (but with all the delicious restaurants within walking distance, why cook). The view is fantastic, and the location can’t be beat; just a block from Main Street Mystic. Thank you for the great stay! Can’t wait to visit again. Pet friendly recommendations: Young Buns Doughnuts take out window. Bank and Brews patio. North Swell clothing store. Mystic Park across the bridge. Ford’s (Lobster Shack) is a 6 minutes drive with killer views. Stonington Lighthouse.

We absolutely loved our stay in the Schoolhouse in Mystic, so beautiful, so peaceful. The location is perfect - so close to all the shops and restaurants, but tucked away on a very quiet road with a beautiful view across the river. Having the bikes and kayaks was a real asset. We were lucky enough to see the rotating rail bridge do its thing on one of our early morning kayaking trips (check the Amtrak schedule if you are keen - we were there around 7.30am). My heart usually sinks when I see that a property is run by a management company, but Great Gull is an exception to my rule. The treatment we received was amazing - they truly went above and beyond. The house was just as lovely as it looks in the photos, and although there was a family staying next door, the soundproofing between the units has obviously been very well done, as we didn't hear a thing. We would love to stay here again.

This is seriously one of the nicest Airbnb’s I have ever stated at. It is close to everything. You can walk to restaurants, bars, shops, and everything else within two minutes. The outside view of the front of the house is on the Mystic River and it is perfection. The beach is 15 minutes away and we went and had a blast. The parking behind the house is amazing and you can leave your car for your whole stay or take it with you to a local restaurant on the water and then come home park your car and walk for ice cream. The inside of the house is adorable. Everything is so clean. Back-and-forth with the host was So easy and so fast. I cannot wait to go back!

We absolutely loved our getaway. The communication from Gerard was outstanding. Providing great details before arrival and confirming all was ok with the check in via text and a quick call. It was super re-assuring given the recent AB&B horror stories. The house was spotless and i think better than described, a cute older home close to downtown with absolutely everything you could need . Bonus, the bed was so comfortable. Like they say location, location, location. The house is directly across the street from the Mystic River, a beautiful spot regardless of the time of day but very special early in the morning or after sundown. The house is also just about 60 seconds from Main Street and all it offers. Just far away not to be impacted by the hustle and bustle but a short walk to the shops and restaurants. Dont hesitate to book, you will not he disappointed.

We had such a great experience staying at one of Great Gull’s properties. The design, comfort and location were perfection. We had great weather and we had a beverage and sat out on the beautiful patio area and watched boats pass by and basically had amazing views of the seaport area. The view and location are the highlight of the trip. All the sightseeing and shopping, eateries are just around the corner. The host Gerard is amazing. He made sure we had everything we needed and has such a great way of welcoming you to this beautiful home. He is the best host we have had since being with Airbnb. Thanks again!
