This house was everything you could ask for and more. Amenities that you would not even think of were provided. Gerard was amazing and accessible. Looking forward to our next stay.

location location location. this house is in the heart of mystic and perfect for our vacation. we could walk to restaurants and shops and parks. having bikes and kayaks available gave us even more of an ability to explore. for an old house it was spacious and comfortable. would 100% recommend.

Great historical home in a wonderful location

9 Gravel Street is a terrific find. First, the location could not be any better. How wonderful to be able to park your car once and walk everywhere. Secondly, the house is super clean and well stocked with everything needed for eating in or out. All the supplies you need to cook are right there and clean and well organized. Check in is super easy and Gerard answered every question promptly, including all the directions for entering and set up. While we didn’t take advantage of the great outdoor set up, it is just great. Grill and comfortable seats for relaxing. The neighborhood is really quiet and makes for a relaxing stay. There are so many details in the home that don’t show up in the pictures. Really comfortable chairs and couches throughout the home. This house is exactly as described. Thanks Gerard for a great stay.

This house was everything it was described as and more! Loved the location and even the soothing music that was on when we got there. We traveled with my mother-in-law, my husband and son and our dog and it was just perfect. Hope to come back next year!

I highly recommend this property as it exceeded our expectations. It is located right in the center of Mystic just steps away from shops and restaurants with amazing views of river. The house was spacious and well appointed with updated bathrooms and a very well equipped kitchen. We will definitely visit again.

The Captain’s House far exceeded our expectations. We are former CT residents and we have visited Mystic many times; and I can honestly say that we have never had a more wonderful trip. The home is gorgeous, the location can’t be beat, and Gerard is an incredibly gracious host - so communicative and accommodating. We are already eager to plan our return trip next summer!

Gerard was simply fantastic. The welcome was so warm and friendly. Checking in instructions were very clear and helpful. Location... PERFECTION. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Mystic. I love historic buildings and all the quirky little things that guarantee a unique experience.

Great location and a historic house! We are a family of 3 stayed in Captain's house for 3 days. Walked to everything except for the Seaport Museum which is a must-see. Gerard was prompt responding to questions before check in that helped me plan the trip. While there, I needed help setting the temp. Gerard responded within 2 minutes and adjusted the temp by remotely logging into the thermostat. Airbnb platform needs more hosts like Gerard and properties like captain's house. I will highly recommend this place.

We (The three of us) think this was the premier property we have stayed at over our multiple visits to Mystic. The location is perfect - close to downtown, quiet setting, off street parking, and many, many things provided / attended to. The patio on the river side off the kitchen is an outstanding place to view Sunrises and the effects of Sunsets. Everything was walkable from here. On our way out one morning, we bumped into the cleaning crew coming to clean the attached "school house." Aside from being just nice folks, they remarked that they have and are working for other property owners in the Mystic area, and Great Gull stands out as an owner who cares. We would heartily second that. We hope that we can arrange to stay there again.

Our family had an amazing stay at the Captain’s House! The location is unparalleled for enjoying downtown Mystic and the historic bascule bridge. The house is beautiful and well appointed, and Gerard is a truly superb host, making for an incredible stay. This place is amazing beautiful house right on the water lots of space inside and out for people and dogs. Really fun to take the kayaks out on the water and sitting watching the water traffic go up and down. Gerard was a delight to deal with and made the whole stay really enjoyable

I grew up in Mystic and wanted my family to stay somewhere we could experience the beauty and quaintness of the village as well as visit relatives. We truly enjoyed staying at The Captain's House. We celebrated Christmas at this beautiful home. It was lovely. The Captain's House is within walking distance to restaurants and shops and is located on one of the most picturesque streets in Mystic. We appreciated the tasteful decor and the history of this 1818 house. Staying at the Captain's House added so much charm to our stay. Great Gull was an attentive host and the rental process was seamless. We plan to stay again when we visit family.

We had a lovely stay at the Captain's House. The house was clean and had all possible amenities whilst maintaining its charm and character. It is also extremely well located, being both on the water and close to the main street. We would definitely recommend this house if you are visiting the area, and look forward to visiting again.

This is a really lovely property, perfectly located. Immediately across the street from the Mystic River, with unobstructed views. Well-appointed kitchen, with lots of thoughtful touches (stocked with microwave popcorn and coffee, for example). Even the TV system is top-notch, lots of streaming services on two big screens. I would most definitely stay here again.

This is a neat old building (~200 years) set right on the road that abuts the river going through Mystic. From the front room/patio you get a wonderful view of the Mystic Seaport Museum and a wonderful sunrise. Take a few steps down the street to access shopping, world class dining or take a jog or bike ride along the river. The home is light filled and appointed with antiques. It retains the charm of a historic home but with all of the modern amenities (new kitchen, appliances/washer/dryer, and lots of televisions. The owner was proactive (actually, you can expect a lot of emails/texts from them) which was helpful because the keypad for entry didn't work and Gerard was able to point us to an alternative very quickly. Just a note of advice, if anyone traveling in your party has mobility issues there are steep stairs and lots of uneven floors. This is this is typical of an old home but could make for an uncomfortable visit for some people. Otherwise I highly recommend!

We absolutely love staying at Great Gull’s Airbnb. It is convenient to walk to mystic establishments. They provide a lovely place to relax and entertain if you want. Love the proximity to the New London Naval Base.

The home is in a fantastic location, so easy to walk to town. The home itself is in great condition, it was very clean. Kitchen had everything you would need to cook meals although we took advantage of the great local restaurants. The view was great. Parking was easy, plenty of room for several cars. The beds were super comfortable. I can't think of anything negative to say. We highly recommend staying here!

The Captains house is an old but beautiful property right on the river in Mystic. The location couldn’t be better, it is steps from the water, shops and restaurants and parking is really easy due to the big space at the house. Gerard communicated exceptionally well from the beginning, responding quickly and clearly to any questions and making as many accommodations as he possibly could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The house is very family friendly and caters very well to both adults and children, there were plenty of toys to keep the kids amused as well as bikes, kayaks and a grill for the adults! Our early morning paddle on the Mystic river was an absolute highlight! We will be back!

Beautiful historic property in beautiful location. Real old worldly charm but extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped. The location is fantastic looking out over the river. Despite being a stones throw away from the pretty and interesting Main Street it was quiet and so, so relaxing. The outside amenities have been carefully thought out with ample chairs with cushions on a patio at the side of the property looking out over the river (great for morning coffee) and a comfortable table and chairs with bbq at the rear for the afternoon sun. The town of Mystic was lovely with great restaurants and lovely walks along the river. Definitely the best 3 day stop on our road trip from New York to Boston. The host Gerard was excellent. Although we didn’t meet in person he was proactive, friendly and very helpful. The presentation of the property was superb with amazing attention to detail and provision of everything you could possibly need. Highly recommended- you won’t be disappointed

We stayed here for 2 days on a fall vacation. It was amazing. The history of this place just added to everything. We enjoyed the outdoor sitting area, watching the boats and the bridge at work. This house was a highlight to our trip. Mystic is amazing! We parked the car on the day we arrived and never looked at it until we left. We enjoyed a bike ride with the provided bikes as well. Great stay.

This was the best Airbnb I have ever booked — and my family agreed. Mystic is my be most adorable and quaint and sage little town, and the house was roomy and well appointed. My teens said they felt like they walked into a magazine — and yet the vibe was welcoming and laid back. Will 100% be back — in fact I am already booking my next stay!

We had a wonderful girls weekend stay in this home. I’m familiar with mystic and when I saw the location I knew it would be the perfect place. Steps away from the river and the Main Street we were able to walk EVERYWHERE! The house was well maintained, fully stocked and Gerard was an amazing host. He was flexible, communicative and provided so many details that we never had a question that wasn’t answered. Will definitely be back for another stay.

We loved our stay at The Captain’s House. It was extremely clean. They had easy to follow instructions for everything. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, glasses and everything you would need. The host was proactive in making sure we got in and had everything we needed. And of course, the location was perfect; walkable to shops and most importantly, Mystic Bridge Ice Cream, which we walked to twice. And the view of the river was fantastic. We also appreciated that they take care of trash, bedding, etc, and we didn’t have to worry about cleaning all that before we checked out. We would stay here again. One of my favorite Airbnb experiences.

We loved our stay at this home! The views are beautiful- right across the street from the river. We loved how it was less than a block away from delicious restaurants and shops. It was only about a 5 minute drive to the aquarium - a big hit with my kids! Also, the host (Gerard) was so nice and helpful to deal with. He checked in during our stay multiple times to ensure everything was okay. He definitely went above and beyond to make it a great stay for us. Highly recommend staying here! This was my third stay in this house. It was as wonderful as it always is. Perfect location, lovely (and extremely clean) unit, and well-equipped. I would also note for those who care that the TVs and accompanying services are really top-notch. This was a great place, at a great price.

It’s an amazing house in an amazing location. The house was spotless and well appointed. Beautiful view of the Mystic River and walkable to everything in today. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Also - if you are Foodies - must eat at the Oyster Club and Port of Call. Both amazing places. This was our second time using Great Gull homes. We know that when we rent with them we'll have easy check-in, a clean and tastefully decorated home, and quick responses to questions. Gerard let us know that we were able to check-in early, and was quick to follow-up on my questions. We rented the Home in Stonington and the Captain's House in Mystic for a wedding and could not have been happier with our choices. The entire wedding crew had a fabulous time and enjoyed the close proximity to all that Mystic has to offer. Until the next time!

From start to finish this was a great experience. The location was amazing-central but private with the prettiest views over the water. The house was incredibly well-stocked with everything we needed including coffee, makeup wipes, super conformable beds (with great linens that were soft and made from good old fashioned cotton.) I thought it was even better in real life than it looked in photos and it was the perfect spot for our family. We were there to celebrate our daughter's graduation from a local College and it was ideally located, outfitted, laid out for the weekend. I really, really enjoyed it and the host was is responsive.

It’s pretty perfect. It’s so close to everything but on a side street so things are quiet. You’re hard pressed to try all of the great restaurants that are within walking distance. And the river view is spectacular.

We had a great stay and was helpful with early check in for naps after mystic aquarium. Had air mattress and darkening windows in upstairs room. Also found high chair, gates for the room / stairs, lots of books and even some paw patrol toys. Walking distance to shops and playground across bridge and great view when it goes up and down. Had short stay but definitely plan to visit again.

We are from Georgia, in town for my daughter, who moved to mystic 2 years ago, wedding. My son, daughter in law, and 2 granddaughters stayed here. It was perfect for our 9 day visit. We enjoyed breakfast on the front patio overlooking the water and the girls loved being only a block away from the ice cream shop. All the places we ate were with walking distance and we tried a new restaurant every time. All of the wedding guests were from out of state and all stayed downtown, several who met up for activities at our place wanted the name of our place to book for future trips.

The Captain's House was the perfect place for our family weekend in Mystic. The house was so welcoming from the moment we entered. The kitchen and baths were well stocked. There was even a welcome basket for things we may have forgotten! The living room and outside patio provided the perfect space for our family to relax. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were so comfortable! The house was so beautiful and very clean. The host was responsive to all our questions and flexible with our arrival time We will definitely be back!

We loved our time at Captain's Quarters. It was clean, comfortable, and full of light. We walked to Sift every morning. We enjoyed a little shopping and watching the Christmas decorations going up everywhere. Born and raised here and back to just be sentimental and visit my old haunts, it was so nice to act like a tourist and wander through the adorable downtown. I would love to return and if I do, I hope Captains Quarters is available.

We were visiting our son stationed at the Groton Submarine Base, and this was an ideal spot for our visit. We even took a day trip to Boston, which was easily manageable from here.
