You will find a bound copy of this guide in the home, which you are welcome to take out with you during your stay so you needn’t print this out.
YOUR HOME
Our cottage is just steps from a private beach. Everything is newly renovated, but has that rustic seaside feel. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor space for a family getaway, with Wifi for connecting to the world and even more opportunities to disconnect as needed.

You want to have a wonderful holiday and we want that for you too. We believe that when you are here this is your home for however long you are staying and that you will be relaxed, comfortable and happy.

Check-in time is 4pm. We can sometimes arrange an early check-in so please contact us if you plan on arriving early and we’ll do our best—no promises! We suggest you refer to the section on what to do if you arrive early, as there is plenty to keep you entertained.

PARKING
We have parking for three cars in our driveway
Fairfield, CT is a quaint New England coastal town, with all the charms that this implies. The downtown area has great shops and places to eat. Admittedly, it would be easy to hide away here for a week or more, without making much contact with anyone other than the gulls. That being said, Fairfield is also rich in foodie and entertainment options.
Food:
From pasta to pizzas, seafood to sushi, barbecue to burgers, and way beyond, you’d be hard-pressed not to find something for everyone, just blocks from the cottage.
Brews:
There is also a major movement of local area microbrews, available in and around Fairfield, for those in need of adult beverages.
Tunes:
There is plenty of great live music and entertainment at the Fairfield Theater Company and the Quick Center (Fairfield University), and one of the state’s best weekly open mic night at the Acoustic Cafe in Black Rock. We are very close to great attractions like Bridgeport Bluefish Baseball, the Fairfield Museum and History Center, the Beardsley Zoo, the Discovery Museum, and The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk. All within minutes of our home!
Additionally, our home is located 1.5 miles from Metro North. Which means planning a day trip to New York City is very convenient.
CHECK-OUT PROCESS
When you leave, please ensure the following simple tasks are done:
- Take the rubbish out to the bins
- Ensure the air-conditioners are turned off
- Run the dishwasher
- Lock the house

CHECK-OUT TIME
Check-out time is strictly 10am. Should you require a later check-out, we will do our best to accommodate. Again, no promises. But you need to let us know as far in advance as possible. If we have guests arriving that day it will be almost impossible to offer flexibility due to cleaning crews requirements and timing.
CLEANING
You will find the house clean on arrival—please let us know if you are not satisfied in any way. We take great pride in providing our guests with the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene. For stays of 1 week there is no cleaning service during your stay. After you depart our cleaners will prepare the house for the next guest.
If you are here for two weeks there will be one cleaning, usually on the middle Saturday. The team has a key and will access the house at some point during the day, but not before 10am. If you need cleaning services more often, please let us know and we will arrange this. An extra payment will apply. On departure it would be helpful if you could
leave the house (particularly kitchen contents and bbq/grill) clean and tidy.

AIR CONDITIONING
During Summer months we will have air conditioning units set up for your comfort.
CENTRAL HEATING
Our home has a central heating system. You can adjust the temperatures manually, or ask Alexa to set them for you!
KITCHEN EQUIPMENT
All manuals for the electrical equipment and appliances are in the middle draw of the unit to the left of the sink.
The Dishwasher:
It’s very simple, we promise! We provide a supply of tablets – you will need to insert one into the flip box container on the inside of the dishwasher door. Then press the program button of your choice – there are a few settings which are obvious – then press the start button.
The Fridge/freezer:
You should not need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it’s not cooling efficiently) please let us know.
The Hob and Oven:
The hob is a five-burner gas hob, and the electric oven and grill is double width. When grilling please leave the door open.
We also have dishes, utensils, glassware, microwave, toaster, everything you will need to enjoy your time in paradise.
LAUNDRY APPLIANCES
We have a washer and separate dryer located near the bathrooms. There is a supply of detergent for your use. To operate the machines, simply select the program you want, place the detergent in the tray, close the door, and hit start. If in any doubt there are instructions next to the machines.
BOARD GAMES / PLAYING CARDS
There is an assortment of Board Games in the closet on the first floor.
BOOKS
We have Books! An assortment can be found throughout the house for your enjoyment
BREAKAGES
We understand that sometimes accidents happen! Should you break anything please let us know immediately – if it’s minor we usually won’t charge. If it’s a larger issue (e.g. the TV screen!) we would like to agree the cost with you before you leave to avoid any issues later. Thank you!
MUSIC SYSTEM
Our home is equipped with the Amazon Alexa. You can play all your favorite Amazon music stations. Additionally, we have a great wi-fi speaker you can pair with your smart device. You can listen to your favorite music, news, or podcasts anywhere in the home.
TELEVISION
Our home has a large screen smart TV in the living room. The TV has cable and it also is equipped with the Amazon Fire Stick. This allows you to stream great movies and shows.
ALEXA
We have installed the Amazon Alexa in all of our locations. This allows you to listen to your favorite Amazon music stations. Alexa will also set thermostat temperatures, turn on/off certain lights and lock the door. In addition, Alexa has a Concierge skill. This allows you to ask questions about the home and the Fairfield area.

We have a table set up with seating for eight on the back deck.

We have kayaks and bikes so you can explore all the natural beauty of this beach community.
